Słynny festiwal kultury górskiej w Banff (The Banff Mountain Film and Book Festival) to nie tylko – jak w przypadku większości festiwali – święto filmu, ale też literatury górskiej. Trudno się dziwić, ponieważ przez wiele lat kierowała nim Bernadette McDonald. Choć laureata książkowego grand prix poznamy pod sam koniec października, jury konkursu na najlepsze książki ogłosiło już finalistów i zwycięzców w poszczególnych kategoriach.
